Atmospheric Technology Division (ATD)
The Atmospheric Technology Division (ATD) at NCAR provided the research services, facilities, and field support necessary for progress in the atmospheric sciences.¬† The Division included facilities for instrumentation, computing, scientific ballooning, and research aircraft. These research services and facilities were used by scientists from NCAR, universities, and government agencies. The Division was involved in several large cooperative projects, such as GATE, MONEX, CCOPE, and SESAME.

Scope and Contents The Monsoon Experiment (MONEX) was a part of the Global Atmospheric Research Program (GARP) and coincided with the First GARP Global Experiment (FGGE) in 1979. The MONEX Records document the scientific fieldwork of gathering data and studying monsoons from conception to completion. The collection contains administrative papers, reports, research, meetings, and correspondence. The materials are almost entirely in paper format with a few transparencies.
