Biographical / Historical

The Coronal Dynamics program was estalished to observe the Sun during a period of peak solar activity starting in 1979. The design on the t-shirt includes coronal mass ejections emanating from a disc containing an image of an ali'i or Native Hawaiian chief wearing a mahiole or feather helmet. This particular ali-i design draws from the Primo Hawaiian Beer logo which was brewed in Hawai'i until 1979. [Insights on the t-shirt design provided by CISL scientist Ben Johnson in 2025.]
