High Altitude Observatory (HAO), 2013 -
Since February 2013, the NCAR Archives has been crawling and harvesting UCAR/NCAR websites using Archive It. The harvested websites include most UCAR/NCAR webpages and associated images, video, PDF files, and other content. The collection also includes the U.S. Weather Commission, a group that brings together the American weather industry, state and local governments, and academia in an organized effort to urge Congress and the Executive Branch to undertake, promote, and support our nation’s portfolio of environmental observations and weather forecasting capabilities.

Biographical / Historical
HAO aims to understand the behavior of the Sun and its impact on the Earth, to support, enhance, and extend the capabilities of the university community and the broader scientific community, nationally and internationally, and to foster the transfer of knowledge and technology. Walter Orr Roberts founded the observatory in 1940 in Climax, Colorado. HAO became a division of NCAR upon its establishment in 1960.
