Gerald "Jerry" Meehl interviews David Waltman in Boulder on December 4, 2019. David Waltman worked for NCAR and UCAR for 53 years beginning in 1966. Throughout his career, Waltman worked in the NCAR Directorate, UCAR Facilities, and the Network Engineering and Telecommunications Section (NETS). Topics discussed in the interview include: Waltman's education and career, early NCAR history, purchasing and contract administration, purchasing for field campaigns and supercomputing, the Mesa Laboratory, educational assistance programs, accounting systems and how they changed over time, the Front Range GigaPop (FRGP), and bird watching.
