These photos include the disassembly of the supercomputer, packing, lifting, and transport out of the Mesa Lab as well as the move into the NWSC facility. In addition to standard photographs, this file also includes time lapse videos and panoramic images. Members of Computer Recovery Associates packed and transferred the Cray 1A and are pictured in the photos along with NCAR staff including Gary New, Jasen Boyington, Tim Barnes, Laura Hoff, and Carlye Calvin.

Biographical / Historical

NCAR's Cray-1A supercomputer, originally delivered to the Mesa Lab in 1977, was moved to the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center in 2021 to join the supercomputing history exhibit at that facility. It was previously on display at the Mesa Lab for many years.
