Scope and Contents
The Laboratory of Atmospheric Sciences (LAS) Records document LAS lab-level and program-level reporting and planning, as well as the administrative and research activities of a selection of scientists and their programs. These include J. Doyne Sartor, Edward Zipser, and Douglas Lilly. This collection also contains many time-lapse cloud films created by the Cloud Physics program, as well as anemometer records documenting wind conditions at several Boulder-area sites in the late 1960s. Also present is one box of microfilms from the 1968 Barbados Experiment and BOMEX.

Biographical / Historical
Edward Zipser joined NCAR’s Laboratory of Atmospheric Sciences in 1966, working in the Atmospheric Dynamics department. He served as the scientific coordinator of the Line Islands Experiment, and he participated in the 1968 Barbados Experiment and the summer 1969 BOMEX field observation program. In 1971, he began working with the Global Atmospheric Research Project (GARP) Task Group at NCAR, serving as Chief Scientist. Following the reorganization of NCAR in 1973, Zipser was a scientist with the Atmospheric Analysis and Prediction (AAP) division and the GARP Project.
