Scope and Contents
This series contains records regarding Stephen Schneider’s contributions to committees, workshops, and publications on climate and the environment in the 1970s and 1980s. These include: the 1979 Department of Energy-AAAS Workshop on Environmental and Societal Consequences of a CO2-Induced Climate Change, and its ensuing Research Agenda; the 1978 Workshop to Review the U.S. Climate Program Plans; and the National Academy of Sciences’ Advisory Committee on the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA).

Biographical / Historical
Stephen Schneider came to NCAR in 1972 as a postdoctoral fellow, then joined NCAR’s scientific staff in the Atmospheric Analysis and Prediction division (AAP) in 1973. He was a scientist with the AAP Climate Project through 1976, and was then affiliated with the AAP Climate Sensitivity Group from 1977 through 1980. In 1980, Schneider transferred to NCAR’s Advanced Study Program (ASP), where he was head of the Visitors Program and the Natural Systems Group.
