Scope and Contents

The records in this series document Thomas Wigley’s work as a member of Working Group 1 (WG1) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the 1990s. In particular, these files document his work on the IPCC special report Climate Change 1994 (Part 1: Radiative Forcing of Climate Change) and the 1995 IPCC Second Assessment Report. The files contain correspondence, draft reports, meeting agendas, and notes.

Biographical / Historical

Thomas Wigley joined UCAR as Director of the Office of Interdisciplinary Earth Studies (OIES) in 1993. He was appointed a Senior Scientist at NCAR in July 1994. In the fall of 1994 he moved to a joint appointment with the NCAR Climate and Global Dynamics laboratory (CGD) Climate Analysis Section and the UCAR Advanced Study Program (ASP). Wigley was a member of Working Group I of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), serving as a lead author and a contributing author for the First and Second Assessment Reports, and as a contributing author for the Third and Fourth Assessment Reports.
