Scope and Contents
Correspondence and planning papers leading up to the three superpressure balloon flights from Christchurch, New Zealand, for Drs. R. Megill and R. Williamson. these flights, at a float altitude of 28km, carried instruments to measure ozone overburden, ozone density, water vapor, x-ray radiation, CO2 and methane. The balloons remained aloft for periods of 31, 83, and 121 days making several circumnavigations of the globe at latitudes varying from 14 degrees south to 70 degrees south carrying a 28kg payload. Also included in this file is a proposal for "A Cooperative Program of Long Term Balloon Flights" dated November 1979.
