Scope and Contents
The Storm Transfer Response Experiment (STREX) took place in the Gulf of Alaska during November- December 1980. This file contains a proposal from NCAR to design and fabricate a shipboard balloon launching system capable of launching radiosondes in 50kt winds, a shipboard helium distribution system, and providing an online data processing activity. Included in this file is STREX Technical Memorandum TM-80-01, "Radio and Satellite Communication Link Requirements for STREX," and a draft copy of the STREX Operational Plan.
