MAP, 1979-1980

This files contains a request for NCAR support (superpressure balloons and telemetry) for a Middle Atmosphere Program (MAP) to study coupling of electrical phenomena in the middle atmosphere. A copy of NCAR's favorable review is included along with an estimate of costs. The name of this program was later changed to Electrical Properties of the Middle Atmosphere (EMA) and seven flights were made from Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1984.
