Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The High Altitude Observatory (HAO) is a lab within the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) that conducts fundamental and applied research in solar-terrestrial physics using observational, theoretical, and numerical methods. Research at HAO extends from the solar core to the surface of the Earth. It is the mission of HAO to understand the behavior of the Sun and its impact on the Earth, to support, enhance, and extend the capabilities of the university community and the broader scientific community, nationally and internationally, and to foster the transfer of knowledge and technology. The Records of the High Altitude Observatory detail the history of the division from its inception to the present. Records include a range of materials from original observational data from the Climax Observatory and instrumentation schematics to high-level planning documents and correspondence. Selection from this collection are available in the NCAR Library's digital repository, OpenSky.
