The Stephen Schneider Nuclear Winter Papers document Dr. Schneider's work in understanding the environmental impacts of a nuclear war. The collection focuses heavily on using climate models to inform the theory of nuclear winter, and offers an interesting window into science and policy. The collection consists mostly of correspondence and clippings, but includes reports, conference proceedings, and draft papers as well.

NCAR Archives legacy collection
The Papers of Stephen H. Schneider is related to many collections in the NCAR Archives due to the natural relationship of NCAR records. Some related materials in the NCAR Archives include the Records of the Climate and Global Dynamics Division (CGD), the UCAR/NCAR Oral History Project, and the AMS Oral History Collection.

Processing was completed in August 2010. Materials were kept in original order. Metal fasteners were removed and the materials were re-housed in acid-free folders and boxes.
