UCAR Communications Records
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of three series: audio-visual materials, Communications Office records, and a small selection of reports. The audio-visual materials include photographic negatives, slides, photographic prints, digital photographs, film, audio cassettes, video cassettes, and digital media. The photographic materials cover NCAR and UCAR history from its earliest beginnings through 2018. A selection of digitized photographs are available online in OpenSky. The film, audio, and video materials cover a range of topics, from clips of NCAR scientists speaking on their research to footage from field projects. The office records primarily relate to image selection for NCAR/UCAR publications and exhibits, and the Communications Office video collection. The news releases consist of information released by UCAR Communications from 1999 to 2010. These materials are a continuation of the information releases in the Information Office Records. The reports were generated by UCAR Communications and capture all mentions of UCAR/NCAR in media coverage of Climategate.

Arrangement
The audiovisual materials in the Communications Office Records are arranged by format, with the exception of two sub-series that contain multiple formats: HIAPER Video Material and News Coverage. The recordings in the HIAPER sub-series were received by the Archives in boxes labeled “For HIAPER video.” Most of the recordings in the news coverage sub-series were received in boxes organized by broadcast year. The original groupings and arrangement for these two sub-series have been maintained.
