The Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Division ran VAX computers for many years and needed a version of NCAR Graphics specific for those machines. Programmers in that division undertook this task and the manual in this folder described how to implement that package.

A UNIX specific version of NCAR Graphics was released in Version 3.00, 1990. This folder contains two documents (one dated February, 1990, and the other May, 1994) detailing installing NCAR Graphics on UNIX machines.

Scope and Contents Throughout the 1980s there were user requests for the ability to modify existing plots interactively. Since there was no such direct interactive capability in the package, a way to do this was by importing NCAR Graphics plots into Macintosh systems and using tools there to accomplish the desired goals. This locally developed manual was the copy used in the Computing Facility Consulting Office in the early 1970s. It is pretty beaten up indicating its heavy use over the years. It is specific to CDC computers. It is valuable in that it is an early version of the Library Routines Manual.
