This manual, dated March 1979, a revised version of the 1971 version digitized in the NCAR Technical Notes Collection.

This document describes the Text and Graphics System (TAGS). TAGS allowed a user to select an output device to process text or graphics files. TAGS replaced both DOOS (the DICOMED Online Operating System) and SUDOOS (the Sun/UNIX Online Operating System).

Contains documentation for improvements to and bug fixes for Version 3.0. Also notes that the older generic version and the VMS version will not be updated to Version 3.1, but rather just the package that runs on UNIX based machines.

Version 4.0 was a major release. It introduced NCL (the NCAR Command Language described elsewhere) as well as online documentation. While online documentation has many advantages, such as always reflecting the current environment, it has the disadvantage of no longer having hardcopy manuals for historical documentation.

Describes procedures for installing the three major components of NCAR Graphics Version 4.1: software binaries, web documentation, and source code.
