Research Systems Facility (RSF) reports to the ATD Director covering development work on radars, dropsondes, and Portable Atmospheric Mesonet (PAM), as well as inputs from the machine shop and instrument calibration shop. These reports are available online as part of the Atmospheric Technology Division digital collection.

Reports from the Global Atmospheric Measurement Program (GAMP) covering development work on Carrier Balloon System, Tropical Wind, Energy Conversion, and Reference Level Experiment (TWERLE), Long Life Atmospheric Monitoring Balloon (LLAMB), and the Equatorial Wind Experiment (EWE). Correspondence concerning the formation of a committee review NCAR's patent policy and to recommend changes that would encourage engineering staff to prepare invention disclosures and for management to review and expedite those inventions that appear to be patentable. A copy of the committee's review and recommendations are included.

Correspondence relating to the formation of a committee to coordinate the usage of NASA, ESSA, and NCAR aircraft to recommend basic instrumentation among aircraft and to establish data handling procedures. Includes meeting minutes.

The committee's final report on the feasibility and estimated cost associated with purchasing or assembling a C-band radar. Several options are presented: repackage CP-1 from S-band to C-band, purchase a new C-band radar, acquire and refurbish a surplus military C-band radar.
