UCAR/NCAR Oral History Collection

Scope and Contents The UCAR / NCAR Oral History Project documents the history of UCAR through interviews, recorded discussions, and lectures by staff and others. The project has a strong focus on the creation and development of NCAR as well as the design and construction of the Mesa Laboratory by I.M. Pei, early in the Center's history. The majority of audio files and transcripts in this collection have been digitized and are available online in the NCAR Library's digital repository, OpenSky.

Vincent E. Lally Papers

Scope and Contents The Vincent E. Lally papers document over thirty years of using high-altitude balloons in the atmospheric sciences. Dr. Lally's papers include the many projects he oversaw as well as his work at the National Scientific Balloon Facility. These papers include correspondence, research notebooks, data, maps, graphs, photographs, and films. Selections from Dr. Lally's papers are available online.

Walter Orr Roberts Collection

Scope and Contents The Walter Orr Roberts Collection includes records pertaining to Dr. Roberts' work with Soviet scientists, published and unpublished writings, various photographs from around the world, audio cassettes of Dr. Roberts' presentations, films, and some memorabilia. William Welch Kellogg Papers

Scope and Contents The Papers of William Welch Kellogg consists of documents dated from 1946 to 2005. Dr. Kellogg’s research and work for the National Center for Atmospheric Science (NCAR) comprises the bulk of the materials. He was involved with climate change research and early forecasting methods. The collection includes committee materials, correspondence and memoranda, journals, presentations and speeches, research files, writings, publications, figures, newspaper clippings, and photographs.
