Climax Observatory Photograph Collection

Computing Advisory Panel (CAP) Records

Scope and Contents The records of the Computing Facility Advisory Panel (CAP) primarily contains minutes, correspondence, and mail outs of work done by the Panel for meetings that spans 1964-1995. Some meetings occurred over a period of consecutive days. Included in the collection are requests for usage applications and computer time. No weeding was done on this collection.

David Atlas Papers, 1943-2012

Scope and Contents The David Atlas Papers collections contains correspondence, clippings, photographs, microfiche, handwritten notes, conference minutes, research bibliographies and articles that provide a glimpse into the work of Dr. Atlas at the Harvard-MIT Radar School, a record of the National Hail Research Experiment (NHRE) from 1974 to 1975 and an account of the evolution of the Atmosphere Technology Division (ATD) during Dr. Atlas's tenure from 1972-1975.

I.M. Pei Collection

Scope and Contents The I.M. Pei Collection contains DVDs that were donated by Mr. Pei to the NCAR Archives. Included on the DVDs are two reformatted films, the I. M. Pei Essays: A Program for a Building, NCAR, and Bushhammering.

In 1961, Eason H. Leonard of I.M. Pei and Associates, sent Walter Roberts additional materials for consideration during the architect selection process for the Mesa Laboratory.

Scope and Contents The Lester M. Zinser Papers contain reports, search logs, hand-drawn and printed maps, sonar search tracks, equipment order forms, video sonar print rolls, correspondence, clippings, and handwritten notes about the searches to locate the NCAR Queen Air N303D aircraft that disappeared on October 28, 1968 over Lake Superior. Mr. Zinser led the NCAR team in the second search in September 1969 for the aircraft and the three men who were on board.
