Classical Music Soundtrack. Benefits of glider over powered aircraft compared. Discussed Leonardo, Icarus, other flight pioneers. Some killed in their pursuit. Sailplane emerges in 1930s. Plane named 'Explorer'. NOAA, NCAR credited. Discusses amount and types of data gathered. Info transmitted to mobile ground station and recorded. Must calibrate equipment frequently. Excellent close-ups of processes. Particle photography and droplets captured on slides. Thunderstorm approaches.
