Film Specifications - 16mm film ; Description - Film depicts simulations, animations, and models of the equipment, study and science of The Solar Eclipse. Scientists and technicians, logistics, personell, the design and building of new instruments to exact specs, assembly, disassembly, transport and durability. Study of the Corona. Air National Guard transported 35 tons of equipment. Travel to site treacherous. 35 miles = 7 hours. Camped on abandoned lumber mill site. Unloaded instruments carefully. Multiple crates. Thin air advantage. 6 experiments. Prominences. Photographs of helium and hydrogen, magnetic field. Spectrograph measurements. K and F Coronas. Multiple telescope set-ups. Construct 3D view of corona. Magnetic data. Extreme detail of the science, gear, chemistry and technology. Great calssical guitar soundtrack. Interplantery dust. 40 days of prep to capture 3.5 minute event. Generators run 24 hours a day. A sunrise indicated clouds, could be a problem, as smoke from fires. Still found time for R & R. Villagers helped with project. Supplies continually came into camp. Practiced protocol for event. Calibrations, checking, re-checking. 24 people on site. Eclipse date, March 7, 1970. Time calibrated to Ft. Collins, Colorado. Cooperative Mexican Government. So far, so good. Light dims, temperature drops. Excellent conditions for experiment.
