HALO and HIAPER, 2011-01-17

A collection of photos from a visit by a European research aircraft called HALO (High Altitude and Long Range Research Aircraft), a counterpart of the NCAR HIAPER aircraft. The German Aerospace Research Establishment (DLR) recently acquired HALO, a Gulfstream G550 jet. Nine DLR staff accompanied the plane on its Colorado visit, which gave them a chance to share notes with RAF on instrumentation and other aspects of high-altitude research.
