CHATS: Canopy Horizontal Array Turbulence Study, 2007-03-15 - 2007-06-15
Scope and Contents
A collection of photos in the field from the CHATS (Canopy Horizontal Array Turbulence Study). The study took place in the Cilker Chandler walnut orchard near Dixon, California with the objective to measure winds and turbulence across the walnut orchard, which functions as a uniformly vegetated canopy. The NCAR’s Raman-shifted Eye-safe Aerosol Lidar (REAL) scanning lidar was also deployed near a wheat field. There many photos in the walnut orchard, of towers with instruments, and scientists working. There are also other landscapes, with sunflowers and wheat fields, and a helicopter from Duke University Pratt School of Engineering from which aerial photos were taken. Don Lenschow and Alex Guenther are among the scientists pictured.
