T-REX: Terrain-induced Rotor Experiment, 2006-04-03 - 2006-04-08
Scope and Contents
A collection of photos from the Terrain-induced Rotor Experiment (T-REX) field project, the second phase of a coordinated effort to explore the structure and evolution of atmospheric rotors (intense low-level horizontal vorticies that form along an axis parallel to, and downstream of, a mountain ridge crest) as well as associated phenomena in complex terrain. This phase took place in Owens Valley, California March 1 to April 30, 2006. Individuals identified in the attached digital objects include Gary Granger, John Militzer, Dan Kirshbaum, Gordon Maclean, and Dr. Barbara Brooks and Dr. Ralph Burton from University of Leeds. Other individuals identified include Jim Moore, Jorgen Jensen, Vanda Grubisic, Teresa Campos, Henry Boynton, and Joachim Kuettner.
