Autograph: The Unabridged Write-up, TN-245, 1985
Scope and Contents
Autograph is a package of functions for creating XY-plots. It was one of the first graphics functions ever written for scientific support, this was in the 1960s. The first version of this package was called IDIOT and was written by Dave Robertson. Later Dan Anderson took the package over and renamed it with the more meaningful name AUTOGRAPH. Many versions of the Anderson code came into existence by way of users modifying it to meet various needs. In the mid 1970s Dave Kennison started from scratch and created the Fortran version of the code that, with few modifications, remains part of the lower level NCAR Graphics Fortran code in 2010 (this is not to be confused with the NCL XY functions which offer essentially the same functionality) . The copy of the manual here is from January, 1985 and is an earlier version of the Version 2.00, 1987 copy that is in the online tech notes collection.
