Window Interface to NCAR Graphics, 1988

This was a collaborative project with students from the University of Colorado Department of computer science (under CU instructor Bruce Sanders) and the SCD NCAR Graphics Group (Bob Lackman, Group Head). The project (known as WING) took place in the 1988-1989 school year. The initial goal was to provide an interactive interface to the contouring functionality of the NCAR Graphics contouring functions. This folder contains the Design Specification for the project. Providing a successful interactive interface for NCAR Graphics has proved more difficult than originally conceived and, as of 2010, any attempt to do so has not been greatly successful. With the advent of the NCL scripting language, the demand for a true GUI has subsided, but not disappeared.
