The Robert L. Chasson Papers document the committee and advisory work of Dr. Chasson during his time as the Vice Chairman of the UCAR Board of Trustees.  Materials include correspondence, memoranda, meeting minutes, reports, agenda, program plans, handwritten notes, clippings, and photographs.

Arrangement

Arrangement is by material type.  Folders are arranged alphabetically within each series. Individual items in each folder are arranged chronologically.  In the container list, these titles have been transcribed as accurately as possible. There is no distinction made between the original folder titles and those provided by the processor.  This collection is housed in four record cartons and is arranged into the following ten series: I. Biographical or Historical Information

Robert L. Chasson was elected as Vice Chairman of the UCAR Board of Trustees in 1971.  He was a professor for the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nebraska from 1951 to 1962.  He later served as a lecturer for the Department of Physics at the University of Denver where he earned the University Lecturer Award for the year 1966-1967.

Appraisal Information

No accruals or additions are expected.

Processing Information

This collection was processed in February of 2012.  Series were created to aid access to the materials. Preservation measures included removing sticky labels from folders and re-writing folder titles in pencil, buffering acidic sheets, removing some metal fasteners, and re-housing the collection in acid-free folders and boxes. Records containing personal data and sensitive information, such as salary information, were shredded. Publications available in the NCAR Library were removed from the collection.
