The David Atlas Papers collections contains correspondence, clippings, photographs, microfiche, handwritten notes, conference minutes, research bibliographies and articles that provide a glimpse into the work of Dr. Atlas at the Harvard-MIT Radar School, a record of the National Hail Research Experiment (NHRE) from 1974 to 1975 and an account of the evolution of the Atmosphere Technology Division (ATD) during Dr. Atlas's tenure from 1972-1975.
This collection contains 19 folders which are arranged by material type and sorted by title.

The collection must be viewed in the Archives during normal business hours.

Accruals and Additions
David Atlas donated additional materials in August 2012 and February 2015.
The David Atlas Papers is related to many collections in the NCAR Archives due to the natural relationship of NCAR records, see especially the Atmospheric Technology Division (ATD) Records.
Processing was completed in March 2012. The original order was maintained. Materials were placed into acid-free folders and re-labeled with original titles. Duplicate records were removed from the collection.
finding aid revision date not supplied: Additional records were located in the stacks in April 2012 that belonged with this collection. The misfiled records were added to original folders of the David Atlas Papers (Folders 7 and 13) and the finding aid was updated to reflect these changes on April 16, 2012. David Atlas donated additional materials via Roger Wakimoto in August 2012 that were added to this collection (Patents and Published Papers).
