Patrick J. Kennedy Papers

Scope and Contents The Papers of Paul R. Julian consists of documents dated from 1962 to 1978. Dr. Julian’s research and work for the National Center for Atmospheric Science (NCAR) comprises the bulk of the materials. He was involved with climate change research and early forecasting methods. The collection includes task group materials, correspondence and memoranda, conference materials, research files, publications, figures, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

The collection is organized into nine series, primarily organized by the programs and projects he was involved in.

Scope and Contents The UCAR Records contain materials that document UCAR and NCAR. The collection traces the founding of UCAR from an idea to the birth of a national center. It also documents the merger of the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) with NCAR, the international scope of UCAR/NCAR, the relationship between UCAR and Member Universities, and the relationship of UCAR and the NSF.

Scope and Contents This collection contains various audio-visual resources that document demonstrations, conferences, lectures, facility tours, presentations, and talks by by UCAR/NCAR staff and scientists, as well as others. Retirement parties and NCAR staff events are also included.

UCAR/NCAR Oral History Collection

Scope and Contents The UCAR / NCAR Oral History Project documents the history of UCAR through interviews, recorded discussions, and lectures by staff and others. The project has a strong focus on the creation and development of NCAR as well as the design and construction of the Mesa Laboratory by I.M. Pei, early in the Center's history. The majority of audio files and transcripts in this collection have been digitized and are available online in the NCAR Library's digital repository, OpenSky.

Scope and Contents The Vincent E. Lally papers document over thirty years of using high-altitude balloons in the atmospheric sciences. Dr. Lally's papers include the many projects he oversaw as well as his work at the National Scientific Balloon Facility.
