6 copies. ; Film Specifications - 16mm film ; Description - Film depicts rain, hail, hail damage to crops, locally and worldwide. 5 year project, "National Hail Research Experiment". Scientists and technicians gather and analyze data, weather balloons, shows meetings, mapping 600 sq. mile area, 400 data gathering locations. special instruments measure amount of water in clouds and other data. Special high-altitude aircraft gather data above storms. Satellite receivers track weather balloons. Collect rain and hail samples. It is determined that a measurement of 51 dbZ constitutes a 'hail day.' Cloud seeding commences from aircraft over weather cells. Instruments gather and compare data, before, during, and after the storm. Hail suppression seems possible in the near future. ; Location - Town of Grover, in Northeastern Colorado.
