This report, dated December 18, 1987, summarizes the results from an eight member committee tasked with recommending hardware to relieve the saturation of the SCD film recorders and printers (Phase I), and hardware/software to extend the capabilities of NCAR Graphics (Phase II). The conclusions of the Phase I report centered around improving the DICOMED film output (add color, fiche, new control computer) and the XEROX printers.

Among other things, the report contains a market overview of scientific visualization, what the strengths and weaknesses of NCAR Graphics are in that arena, who the competition is, and potential marketing strategies. For a private company that was not familiar with NCAR Graphics, this report was deemed to be informed and valuable, offering as it did an outsider's views.
